Kurzbeschreibung/Zielsetzung

The aim of the study is to investigate the prevalence and course of sarcopenia in patients undergoing curative trimodality therapy for locally advanced esophageal cancer and to correlate skeletal muscle mass with treatment complications during neoadjuvant treatment and surgery and, optionally, in a second step with overall survival.
The study will be performed as retrospective analysis. Only SAKK study patients will be included to ensure a homogenous collective receiving the identi-cal therapy. Skeletal muscle mass will be obtained by a second analysis of staging CTs before, during and after curative trimodality therapy. To increase patient number, a cooperation with other major Swiss cancer centers has been established.
