Brief description/objective
Gonadotrophin-releasing hormone analogue agonist administration, preferably by intranasal spray, is an effective, simple and safe way to achieve androgen deprivation in the treatment of advanced prostatic cancer without causing the psychological problems of castration or the treatment-associated morbidity and mortality of oestrogen administration. Preliminary results are promising but need further confirmation in larger trials and longer follow-up.
