Brief description/objective

During the course of their disease, many prostate cancer patients develop local symptoms including pain, bleeding, urinary or faecal obstructive symptoms. Several surgical or radiotherapeutic palliative treatment methods are available to improve these symptoms. Palliative radiotherapy usually is well tolerated and can improve symptoms. Surgical options (i.e. transurethral resection) should also be considered. In order to provide each patient with the best treatment options, interdisciplinary cooperation should be the focus of attention.
