Brief description/objective
We plan to investigate the association between physical activity, malnutrition and sar-copenia and the occurrence of acute exacerbations of COPD (AECOPD) / the evolution of the COPD assessment test (CAT) over 1 year in a telehealthcare (THC) cohort of patients with COPD. We hypothesize that being malnourished and/or sarcopenic at baseline and a decline of FFMI over time is associated with an increased rate of AECOPD and an increased CAT score meaning a higher risk for mortality, morbidity and impairment of quality of life. Clinical consequence could be to systematically in-clude nutritional assessment / therapy and other measures to reduce malnutrition and sarcopenia in the clinical routine of treating patients with COPD.
