Brief description/objective

Impact of HPV positivity (based on detection of p16 protein and high risk HPV-DNA in tumor tissue samples) in relation to tumor stage, grade of differentiation, gender, age and other risk factors (smoking habits, alcohol consumption, T- and N-category) on survival in surgically treated patients with OPSCC. Multicenter retrospective chart analysis in Head and Neck surgery centers in Switzerland (Bern, Basel, Bellinzona, Lausanne, Zurich, St. Gallen, Fribourg and Aarau). Analysis of tumor specimens for HPV status, tissue microarray (TMA) construction and expression analysis of p16, p53, pRb, Bcl-2, Bcl-xl, Cyclin D1 and MDM2. Set up of a clinical and pathological database to build a Swiss cohort of surgically treated OPSCC.
