New therapeutic approach for myocarditis

29.02.2024

Researchers at the Kantonsspital St.Gallen and the University Hospital of Zurich have developed a new immunotherapeutic procedure to treat myocarditis. The interaction of the various cells in the heart muscle is controlled by so-called gremlin molecules. A therapeutic antibody directed against the gremlin molecules reduces severe inflammatory reactions in the heart and prevents the development of heart failure. The study was published in the current issue of the journal Nature Cardiovascular Medicine. To the press release
